Sonic Boom Results at Cornhusker State Games

28 Jets Record 44 medals, 17 Gold

Lincoln, NE. - Nebraska Wesleyan was the site of the 2003 Cornhusker State Games. Twenty-Eight Jets competed in the event and brought home a sum of 44 total medals and 17 gold medals.

The bantam girls 4x100 meter relay team won gold and the team members included Olivia Morris, Cicely Sanders, Avrie Welton and Taylynn Watson. The team was timed in 1:08.0 seconds. The bantam girls 4x400 meter relay teams were awesome as well. The team of Emma Gran, Welton, Sanders and Kelsey Roth finished with the gold in a club record time of 6:12.0.

Watson was a three medal winner breaking the club record in the 100 (15.2) and the 200 (33.4). Roth was also a three gold medalist with a 2nd place finish in the 400 (1:24.0) and a 3rd place finish in the long jump (10'3.75"). Sanders was a runner-up in the long jump (11'9.75") and Emma Gran brought home the bronze in the high jump with a personal best leap of 3'7". In addition to two golds in the relays Welton was a three time gold medalist with a gold in the high jump and a club tying record jump of 4'0".

In the bantam boys division, our 4x400 meter relay team of Zachary Edwards, Bailey Roth, Andrew Berry and Daniel Roth brought home the silver medal. Christian Sanderfer was a three time gold medalist with wins in the 200 (29.9); 400 (1:07.4) and the long jump (12'10.75"). Tyson Osborn scored two bronze medals in the 400(1:16.4) and the 100 (15.7). Roth was a gold medalist in the 800 with a time of 3:08.7. Edwards recorded two more medals in the 1500 (7:19.1) and the 800 (3::13.4).

Jenna Raef had a club record leap of 4'2" in the high jump for the midget division. Jeff Morrison brought home 3 silver medals in the high jump (4'2"), long jump (13'4.75" and the 80 meter hurdles (15.7). Nate Key was a gold medalist in the 80 meter hurdles (15.4) and a bronze medalist in the 800 (2:54.9). Derrius Vick was a three time medalists with a first place 400 (1:11.3) a second place finish in the 200 (30.9) and a thrid place finish in the long jump (13'2.25"). Vicks long jump and 200 were personal bests.

The intermediate division saw Alison Metzger bring home a club record bronze medal in the triple jump (28'6.5"). Heather Boes also found bronze in the 100 meter hurdles with a club record run of 20.2.

The young men division had Austin Novotny jumping for the first time this season and recording gold with a club record leap of 6'4". Robbie Morrison recorded a pair of bronze medals in the long jump (18'7.25") and the triple jump (37'10.25"). Both jumps were club records. Chris Hatch records a pair of medals in his specialties. Chris ran the 800 in 2:05.1 to finish 3rd and finsihed 2nd in the 1500 with a time of 4:21.9.

Because no ribbons were distributed or results posted the following athletes competed but, were not given times or jumps. Jacob and Wendy Leuenberger, Austin Jones, Anne Flesher, Allsion and Lindsey Key, Gabby Roth, and Spencer Welton all competed for the Jets.
