Jets win 8 Individual Events
Omaha, NE.- Fifteen Jets make the trip to Omaha Benson for the Midwest Striders Track Meet. Another successful outing brought home 16 Club records, and 11 more Top 5 marks. A total of 22 P/R's were broken and 5 new one's established. Facing some very stiff competition from Des Moines, Iowa, the Jets brought home 21 medals, including 8 individual winners and 8 ribbons.
Leading the way for the boys for the Jets was Will Scheideler with a 1st place finish in the 100 Hurdles at 17.5, 1st in the Triple Jump at 32'11", 2nd in the Javelin with a throw of 95'8" and a 4th medal in the youth boys long jump with a jump of 16'03". All marks were P/R's. Jeff Morrison brought home two bronze medals in the 80 Meter Hurdles and a member of the club setting record of 4:50.8 in the 4x400 midget boys relay. Jeff also jumped to gold in the long jump with a leap of 12'8 1/4". R.J. Richardson tackled some stiff competition by winning the high jump with a leap of 4'4". R.J. also recorded a very fast club record of 13.3 in the 100 meter dash and ran a 1:08.5 final leg of the 4x400 meter relay. Christian Sanderfer defeated the state of Nebraska in both the 100 and the 200 however, Des Moines beat him out of medals. Christian's times were well under the club records with a 13.9 100 meter dash and 30.1 200 meter dash. Christian did win the bantam boys long jump with a leap of 12'8". Spencer Welton ran a P/R time of 15.9 in the 100 and finished second in the shot put with a toss of 18'10.5". Sean McClure has a super day with very tough competition in the 400. Sean set a club record 1:11.0 while finishing 7th. Sean also competed in the long jump and ran a very fast 1:09.0 on the third place 4x400 meter relay team. Alex Scheideler won the midget boys javelin with a P/R of 75'8". Alex was fifth in the shot put and the discus. Derrius Vick ran a 1:16.0 in the midget boys 400 and was third in the high jump with a P/R jump of 4'2". Derrius was the fourth member of the 4x400 meter relay leading off witha a 1:14.0. Zackary Edwards set P/R's in the 200 and the 800. Tyson Osborn set P/R's in all three events he competed in, including the long jump, 100 and 400. Brandon Thomson set a P/R in the discus and the javelin and was very close to a P/R in the long jump.
The girls Jet team was lead by a big leap by Avrie Welton in the high jump. Avrie won the high jump at 3'10. Avrie also finished 6th after qualifying for the finals in the 100. Her 16.2 set a P/R and was the anchor of the third place 4x100 meter bantam team that broke the club record at 1:07.9. Olivia Morris just missed qualifying for the 100 finals and received a bronze medal with the bantam 4x100 meter team. Cicely Sanders was the bantam girls champion in the long jump with a club record jump of 11'5". Cicely missed qualifying for finals in the 100 finishing 9th. Cicely was the third member of 4x100 meter team. Taylyn Watson qualified for the finals of the 100 and ran a P/R of 7th place finish of 16.6. Taylyn ran a super 34.8 200 meter breaking the club record and finishing 5th in very stiff competition. Taylyn was the lead off leg of the 3rd place 4x100 Meter team.
