17 Jets Qualify for J.O. Regionals @ St. Paul Kelsey
Roth wins State High Jump Omaha, NE - Burke high school was the site of the 2003 Junior Olympic State Association meet. The season would not be complete without some rain in the air. The Jets qualified 17 athletes for Region XIII regionals to be held at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Jets qualified for 28 events and broke or tied 31 personal bests. Kelsie Roth was the Jets only State Champion beating teammate Avery Welton for the gold medal. Kelsey jumped a personal best of 3'11. Avrie brought home the silver medal jumping 3'8". Robbie Morrison returned to the Jets to jump 18'2" in the long jump and finish second place. Spencer Welton heaved a large personal best and club record of 25'2.5". Christian Sanderfer cruised up I29 to get to run the 200 and finish second in a time of 30.61 electronically timed. Cicely Sanders jumped a club record 11'11.50" to finish 3rd in the bantam girls long jump. Madison MacLean finished 3rd in the midget girls discus with a toss of 58'11". Amanda Latsch finished behing the same two girls that defeated her at the high school class A championships. Amanda's throw was 35'4.75". Will Scheideler qualified in four events and the multi's. Will finished third in the triple jump with a club record jump of 33'5.25". Will finished 4th in his specialty the javelin with a toss of 103'04". Will also finished fourth in the 100 meter hurdles in a club record time of 16.46. His final qualification was in the long jump with a 5th place finish jumping 15'09.75". Chris Hatch qualified for three events by finishing 4th in 800; 4th in the 800 and 6th in the 400. Chris's times were 2:06.94 in the 800; 4:26.32 in the 1500 and 56.91 in the 400. Madison MacLean finished 4th in the shot put with a toss of 23'8.5". Amanda Latsch finished 4th in the discus with toss of 90 feet. Jacob Danielson shook off some tougher rules and qualified in the javelin with a 4th place finish at 91'06". Jay Kilpatrick ran a great hurdle race finishing 3rd in a personal best time of 14.52. Paige Richardson was back from her injury and qualified 5th with a leap of 4'4" in the youth girls high jump. Brother R.J. Richardson qualified in 3 events. R.J. placed 5th in each of his events including a 13.95 - 100 meter dash; 29.56 - 200 meter dash; and a club record 1:06.74 - 400 meter dash. Kimberly Boes qualified finishing 6th in the young women's 100 meter dash in a time of 13.74. Tyson Osborn fell short finishing 7th in the bantam boys long jump and 11th in the 100. Tyson came back with an outstanding effort on Sunday to qualify 6th in the bantam boys 400 meter dash. Tyson was timed in 1:15.62. Jeff Morrison in the 80 meter hurdles, Taylyn Watson in the 200, Kelsey Roth in the 800, Tyson Osborn in the long jump, Kimberly Boes in the 100 meter hurdles, and Jonathan Rife in the 3000 all finished 7th and one spot out of qualifying. The girls 4x100 meter relay team of Welton, Sanders, Olivia Morris and Watson missed qualifying for their specialty finishing 6th. Alex Scheideler and Heather Boes finished 8th. Jeff Morrison, Will Scheideler, Kelsey Roth, Christian Sanderfer all qualified for multi-events last weekend. Olivia Morris, Gabby Roth,Jeff Morrison, Jackson MacLean, Kyle Danielson, Alex Boes and Alex Scheideler were all non-qualifiers that broke their personal bests this weekend. |
