Kilpatrick National Runner- up at J.O. in Greensboro, N.C.
Zimmerman Placed 7th Triple Jump, Pape Crushes Jets 800 Meter Record
Greensboro, NC. - Jay Kilpatrick pole vaulted in the rain on the last day of the Junior Olympics held in Greensboro, North Carolina. Jay vaulted 15'3 and for the millionth time attempted 15'9 to win the event. Jay is the club's second member to become a national runner-up. Avrie Welton was the first at Eugene, Oregon in 2004. Derek Zimmerman held his own with some of Texas finest when he leaped a club record and personal best of 37'10" to finish 7th. Kenton Kobza participated in his specialty and found 11th place with a throw 1 foot shy of his own personal record and club record. Janessa Kobza participated in her second national in a row and finsihed 13th and 24th in her events discus and shot put. Paul Pape, a tremendous sprinter/middle distant runner in Lincoln finished one one-thousandth above his personal best from the State High School meet. Paul's 1:56.63 however, shattered his own club record set a year ago. Kathleen Medill and Emilee Shostrom were work horses in their first national scene. Emilee finished 17th in the midget girls pentathlon, 5 events, and then came back and competed in the high jump and shot put. Kathleen finshed 20th in the midget girls pentathlon and she came back days later and competed in the midget girls high jump and 80 Meter Hurdles.
